Very Reverend Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko (March 28, 1939 – March 18, 2015) was an Orthodox priest and theologian of the Orthodox Church in America.

He was the Dean of St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary from 1992 until 2002, having also taught there from 1968 until 2002.

The Cherubic Hymn is the primary cherubikon (Gr: χερουβικόν), or song of the angels, sung during every Divine Liturgy of the year with the exception of the liturgies of the Presanctified Gifts and those of Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday. It occurs after the Gospel reading and is interrupted by the Great Entrance. The Cherubic Hymn was added to the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by order of the Emperor Justinian near the end of the sixth century.

During a recent attendance at the Divine Liturgy, there was a gentleman who had a tattoo that read "Death is Certain" on a tombstone on his right arm. It hit me right between the eyes and reminded me of my ultimate fate and how I need to remain in a constant state of humility and repentance.

Remember the opening scene in The Matrix where Neo serendipitously notices the White Rabbit tattoo on the girls shoulder?
